The South Corvallis Food Bank (SCFB) serves individuals and families in Corvallis and surrounding communities.

The Operations Assistant (OA) assists the Executive Director (ED) and Deputy Director (DD) in championing the organization's values and leading the SCFB in fulfilling its goal to combat food insecurity in the community. The OA reports directly to and is supervised by the ED.
Job Description
Operations Assistant: The SCFB is seeking to hire someone who is enthusiastic about helping their community and wants to make a difference. The successful candidate will assist in food bank daily operations, volunteer management, outreach and administrative tasks.
This position is for 20 hours per week, with a starting pay of $20.00 per hour. The position will have flexible hours, but the candidates should be available during the core hours when the food bank is open. Candidates will not be expected to work all opening hours. Work outside of the core hours will periodically be required.
Core food bank operational hours are:
Monday 8:30 am -3:30 pm
Wednesday 12:00 pm – 3:30 pm
Thursday 1:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Saturday 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
Operations:
Comfort in providing welcoming customer service to a diverse clientele
Assist with fulfilling the SCFB mission by providing food with compassion and respect.
Assist with openings to ensure the food bank runs smoothly and clients are served in a timely manner.
Enter and track limited client information in Pantry Soft software.
Assist with donations, deliveries, and stocking
Provide training, guidance, support, and express ongoing appreciation of volunteers
Drive to shop for food and pick up donations
Assist the ED in other activities as needed.
Safety and Facilities:
Ensure all policies/procedures are properly and consistently implemented (including legal, food safety, confidentiality, and civil rights policies as well as those resulting from our partnership with Linn Benton Food Share, Oregon Food Bank and the USDA).
Help maintain a clean, functioning, and safe environment in the food bank.
Assist with management of the facility and equipment; addressing and reporting maintenance issues needed.
Complete ServSafe certification and other food handling safety trainings.
Communications and Outreach:
Present a positive and friendly presence when working with clients and volunteers.
Demonstrated ability to adapt to communication styles to convey instructions, rules, and procedures to a diverse audience.
Assist with organizing outreach and fundraising opportunities
Assist with social media posts and management
Manage volunteer communications, including onboarding, scheduling, training and database management using emails, phone calls, spreadsheets and programs Little Green Light and SignUpGenius.com
Assist with communications (e.g., newsletters, letters, emails) to support and educate clients, volunteers, and the community.
Assist with fundraising efforts (e.g. grant tracking, events, letters, emails, and possible grant writing)
Maintain commitment to equity and inclusion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multi-task with attention to detail in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work in collaboration with staff and volunteers
Demonstrated ability or significant potential to work with minimal supervision
Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for a 3-hour period
Ability to lift 35-50 lbs.
Flexibility and problem-solving skills to address unexpected problems
Excellent organizing skills
Proficiency in maintaining accurate computer work using various programs and applications
Proof of valid driver’s license, car insurance, and an operating vehicle
Pass a background check
PREFERED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Experience with food pantries or food service management
Experience working in social service non-profits
Technical writing experience
Volunteer management experience
Grant writing experience
Bilingual- English and Spanish
